Sitting on my bed, I pulled a packet of salt ‘n’ vinegar crisps out from under my jumper. I’d sneaked them up to my room so my mum and dad didn’t know I was secretly snacking. They were downstairs, watching telly, blissfully unaware that I was upstairs, munching!

I’d always been a chubby kid – I just loved food, and would wolf down huge portions of Mum’s home cooking, as well as grazing on crisps and biscuits. Mum and Dad tried to help me eat sensibly, but didn’t put pressure on me to lose weight.
