Pin replacement

So far the task of replacing the link arm support pins has been straightforward, with the removal of the right-hand axle housing to access the lock nut on the inside that secures the pin to the housing. I did, however, discover that the inner axle oil seal had failed, leading to oil escaping onto the righthand brake. This accounted for the inefficiency of the brakes recently.

As a result, I ordered a pair of new seals from Agriline Products (tel: 01527 579111, agrilineproducts.com) and these have now arrived, enabling me to continue.

Changing the pin

The axle housing is rather heavy, even without the half-shaft present, and to securely grip it whilst slackening the lock nut, I lifted it onto the bench and secured it in the vice. To prevent breaking the flange I supported it at the opposite end whilst removing the nut.
