Farming with the System Cameleon: Adaptable
When we arrive to speak with Markus Lenhart, his Claas Ares 657 ATZ is travelling at speed across a winter wheat field pulling the 8.0m Cameleon, with the seeder's yellow hopper making the outfit easy to spot. As his son continues to work away, Markus Lenhart tells us more about how his farm has evolved and how it came to buy the Swedishmade multitalented machine.
Manufactured by Gothia Redskap for several years now, the Cameleon can both sow and mechanically weed — either task can be done on its own or together. At the machine's heart is a semimounted chassis, which has a steered axle to carry the central hopper, complete with pneumatic metering system for seed and fertiliser. The two rows of coulter openers can be hydraulically offset to change over from seeding to weeding between the rows —
