Dumbleton Hall on course for main line comeback

HAVING last steamed on the South Devon Railway (SDR) 21 years ago, GWR 4-6-0 No. 4920 Dumbleton Hall appears to be set for a return to the main line.

Owning group the Dumbleton Hall Preservation Society has announced that the locomotive has been sold for a six-figure sum to “a restoration base with a proven capability to overhaul main line locomotives to working order.”

Society chairman Richard Elliott and South Devon officials declined to name
