Covid fears spike as taps run dry

TODAY will mark five days that some residents of one of eThekwini’s Covid-19 hotspots, Chatsworth, have not had piped water.
While communities across the country have been urged to repeatedly wash their hands to safeguard themselves against contracting the coronavirus, Chatsworth residents have been trying since Friday to secure water following the breakdown of water pumps.
The eThekwini Municipality said it had encountered technical challenges with regards to the operations of Northdene 3 pump station.
All three available pumps had failed and resulted in no water being pumped to all downstream reservoirs. It subsequently affected various areas. These included
