WITH THE SECOND Welsh firebreak a memory, it meant anglers could travel further afield in search of some cod for the first time this winter. Finding a consistent venue is never simple, but Ogmore Deeps is always a sound option because it can produce some good fish. If the target species fails to show up there are always rays, conger eels, turbot, loads of dogfish and other small species.

Located to the south of Bridgend in South Wales, the Deeps is a rocky venue and normally fished around high water, but occasionally you can fish here at low tide. Getting to the Deeps involves climbing down a hill and then scrambling
