ack Bauer opens a cherry-flavoured energy gel on the Montée de la Selle de who took the photo, explains why this is his favourite picture of 2020: “My mate, the New Zealand rider Jack Bauer, during stage 15 of the Tour de France, in the descent at the back of Le Montée de la Selle de Fromentel. He showered himself with his bidon and had a quick snack on this very hot day before throwing himself into the descent. Because the sun was behind him and we were in a dark forest, it lit up the droplets which stand out beautifully.”
