AROUND 10 YEARS AGO, Tara and Steve Larnach spent a blissful holiday in a delightful historic sandstone cottage bordering the Royal National Park on Port Hacking at Bundeena, 55 kilometres drive from Sydney. Built in the 1860s, Simpson Cottage was the family home of some of the first Europeans to settle in the district. Nestled in the bush, with views over the water and a private track winding to a secluded beach, the cottage felt perfect for them, and the Larnachs fell in love with it.
