You Wildwoodn’t BELIEVE IT

When Australia was hit by COVID in March, I was optimistic that the authorities would get the virus under control and have the motorcycling community back on the road, and racing, within months. By early June, after some hard lockdowns, things were actually looking good, with the possibility of a few rounds of AORC, Hattah and Grassroots. Wildwood was still alive.

Then came the dreaded quarantine breakout in Melbourne, causing the state to cop a hard lockdown. All the poor Victorians were basically restricted to their homes and all of us living in other states knew our dreams of racing in big events had just disappeared. In mid-October, while Victorians were still confined to quarters, I heard whispers that Wildwood head man Steve Braszell was still hoping to run the event and was pretty certain he’d caught the deadly virus.
