JAMIE CHADWICK ‘I WANT TO EARN DRIVES ON MERIT’
Jamie Chadwick’s racing career has rocketed over the past 24 months in what has been a hugely exciting time for the British driver.
Indeed, even before Chadwick has come a long way in a relatively short space of time – after starting out competing in Ginetta Juniors in 2013, she switched to British GT in 2015 where she was crowned the GT4 champion.
Chadwick switched to singleseaters and a stint in BRDC British Formula 3, where she became the first woman to win a race. From that point, the headlines started to be written: this driver meant business. Chadwick got a taste for the single-seater speed and continued down that route.
In October 2018 the all-female championship W Series was launched. This creation sparked much controversy and Chadwick also was unsure about its offering to begin with. The promise of a season of racing – supporting the DTM calendar – for free surely seemed too fanciful. The now 22-year-old held back until the plans became clearer and then decided to go for it. It propelled her career into the spotlight and 2019 was a big year: as well as being the inaugural W Series winner, she was named as a Williams Formula 1 team development driver. She was on everyone’s radar.
