HONORING AN ICON

Renowned Soviet and Russian figure skating coach Igor Moskvin passed away on Nov. 10 at age 91. In a condolence note posted on its website, the Russian Figure Skating Federation (RFSF) stated he had been suffering from a serious illness.

Tamara Moskvina, his wife of 56 years, learned the news while in Kazan at the fourth stage of the Russian Cup series.

“Today I lost the closest person in my life, and I could sit quietly in my room and cry. But for sure he would have told me, ‘Tamara, you prepared the guys together with other specialists, go and finish your job and I’ll wait for you,’” Moskvina said.

A three-time Soviet champion (1952-1954)
