A dangerous obsession
I enjoyed Alec Ryrie’s feature on Britain’s obsession with the Second World War (Our Dangerous Devotion, Christmas) - and an ‘obsession’ it most certainly is. In 2015, I was working for BBC News when it televised commemoration services of the funeral, 50 years earlier, of Sir Winston Churchill. It included sailing the very boat [the ] that carried his coffin up the Thames five decades earlier along the river again. The coverage led the lunchtime news.
