THE POOL FACTORY
The company IHC was formed in North America in 1902 and quickly created satellite operations in over 20 different countries, the first of them in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Meanwhile, here in Great Britain McCormick reapers and mowers had been built, under licence, since the 1880s. IHGB was incorporated on December 31, 1906, and I suspect plans were afoot to supply many things before the ink was even dry.
Line in the sand
The Old Ford works became fully operational within the next couple of years, and processed machinery sent in from America, followed by its sister organisations in Canada, Europe, and Scandinavia. Products involved were as diverse as lightweight tractors, corn drills, cultivation equipment and latterly, even commercial vehicles.
Among the early imported tractors would have been Moguls and Titans, followed by the Farmall Regular (Farmall F) and McCormick-Deering 10-20s and 15-30s. These would have been landed at Tilbury in the Thames estuary and moved to the Lea
