In the stillness of a chill winter’s morning, Jason Mosseri is wandering through woodland near to where he lives in Lewes, Sussex, in search of the perfect, freshly felled wood. In particular, he is looking for ash trees; the straighter the better, fast grown and with minimal knots, ideally six to eight growth rings per inch. He is looking for texture and form, colour and contours – the most beautiful wood among the trees.
