On 30 November, the night sky was bright with a full moon, the so-called Beaver Moon. There are up to 13 moon cycles through the year and each of them is given a name. It takes the moon about 29 days to go through all its phases, meaning each month, on average, there is one full moon. The Native American tribes named the moons to keep track of the seasons.
