DISCOVERY POETRY CONTEST

Four prizes of $500 each and publication in the Paris Review Daily are given annually for a group of poems. Winners also receive lodging and travel expenses to give a reading at the 92nd Street Y in New York City. Poets who have not yet published a full-length poetry collection are eligible. Rick Barot, Mónica de la Torre, and Patricia Spears Jones will serve as final judges. Using only the online submission system, submit a 10-page manuscript, including at least two unpublished poems and two poems that are one page or shorter in length, with a $15 entry fee by January 8. Academy of American Poets

RAIZISS/DE PALCHI FELLOWSHIP

A fellowship of $25,000 is given biennially for the translation into English of a work of modern Italian poetry. Moira Egan, Rebecca Falkoff, and Graziella Sidoli will judge. Using only the online submission system, translators may submit a proposal and 15 pages of a translation-in-progress by February 15. There is no entry fee. Visit the website for complete guidelines.

AMBROGGIO PRIZE

A prize of $1,000 and publication by University of Arizona Press is given annually for a book of poetry originally written in Spanish by a living writer and translated into English. The poet and translator will split the prize. Rigoberto González will judge. Using only the online submission system, submit a poetry manuscript of 48 to 100 pages in the original Spanish along with the English translation by February 15. There is no entry fee. HAROLD MORTON LANDON TRANSLATION AWARD

A prize of $1,000 is given annually for a book of poetry translated from any language into English and published in the United States during the previous year. Indran Amirthanayagam will judge. AKO Caine Prize for African Writing

A prize of £10,000 (approximately $12,860) is given annually for a previously published short story by an African writer. Shortlisted writers will receive £500 (approximately $643). Writers who were born in Africa, who are African residents, or who have a parent who is African by birth or nationality are eligible. Using only the online submission system, publishers may submit a story between 3,000 and 10,000 words published after January 31, 2016, by January 31. There is no entry fee.
