WORKSHOP: HELP

Fordson Major Diesel

Q I have an issue with the hydraulic lift on my Diesel Major. The lift is very slow to operate when lifting heavy implements and when the control lever is in the neutral position the link arms drop, and if transporting an implement I have to repeatedly use the lever to bring the lift arms back up again.

I thought the system was self-compensating and if the arms drop they should return to their required position automatically. Can you give me some indication of what the problem may be please? It has become a nuisance.

Link arms dropping with the lever in neutral sounds like a leaking seal
