It goes without saying that 2020 has been an unusual year for car shows – principally because, for obvious reasons, there haven’t been very many. This has had a significant impact on the auction sphere, because high-end sales traditionally tend to go hand-in-hand with high-end events.

Take Goodwood, for example: the three key events of the calendar – the Members’ Meeting, the Festival of Speed, and the Revival – all run huge auctions offering world-class fare, but none of those shows have been able to run this year.

Thankfully, as we’ve seen all across the motoring scene, core elements have found a new home online, and as auction houses switch their sales to digital remote affairs, so the Goodwood team managed to stage a full-scale event, minus the spectators,
