A Fond Farewell
BUCK HENRY
December 9, 1930–January 8, 2020
Younger viewers will remember him as Liz Lemon’s (Tina Fey) overly supportive father, Dick, on 30 Rock. But Henry’s career dates back to the early 1960s, when he was a regular on The New Steve Allen Show. His most enduring achievement is the ’60s spy spoof Get Smart, which he cocreated with Mel Brooks.
JIM LEHRER
May 19, 1934–January 23, 2020
The Emmy and Peabody Award–winning journalist made a name for himself covering the Watergate hearings for PBS in the 1970s. In addition to anchoring PBS NewsHour, Lehrer moderated 12 presidential debates, earning the nickname “The Dean of Moderators.”
ROBERT CONRAD
March 1, 1935–February 8, 2020
Long before Will Smith took on the role in the 1999 film version of The Wild Wild West, Conrad starred as James T. West in CBS’s 1965–69 series. He was known for doing most of his own stunts.
