JACKSON PILZ

Jackson Pilz has long been one of Australia’s most creative and talented skateboarders. He first turned heads when he was a tiny, long-haired vert skating prodigy from the Sunny Coast who was dominating the local comp scene. But, as Jackson grew up, it quickly became apparent that he could skate any terrain he had a crack at. Take him to pretty much any ledge, ditch, wheelchair ramp or backyard bowl, and he’ll probably get a trick that no one had even thought was possible.

Jackson’s skateboarding career exploded in 2016. He went on Thrasher’s King of the Road with Enjoi, winning the trophy, taking out the MVP award, and being surprised with a pro board at the end of the KOTR ceremony. The next year, Jackson was crowned our Slam Skater of the Year and things have been pretty much full throttle since then. He’s spent the majority of the past few years going from trip to trip to trip. He has also become a rad dad to his two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, and scored himself a gnarly concrete backyard bowl. His latest achievement is a new colourway shoe with Vans, which will drop alongside a part that he has been chipping away at for the past year or so.

Of course, it hasn’t been an easy year to film a part, with all the travel restrictions, but Jackson has made it happen in QLD. I caught up with the 29-year old to chat about dad life, his filming schedule, parting ways with Red Bull, his pet snake and the time he nearly died in Mexico.

How’s it going, Jackson? What have you been up to today?
