A WARM WINTER WELCOME
It’s been a really tough year for campsites. The second lockdown in England, the circuit-breakers in Wales and Northern Ireland, and the various tier systems, meant some sites that weren’t normally open beyond October - but that had planned to operate until Christmas - decided to cut their losses and regroup for 2021.
There are, however, many – around 400 in England alone – that usually stay open all year, and they’re ready to welcome guests keen to return to exploring our beautiful nations. Here, we’ve picked out a few that offer year-round touring, some of which are adults-only, in areas that have plenty to entertain all visitors.
1 The Quiet Site
Restore body and soul at The Quiet Site, located on a hillside between Little Mell Fell and Ullswater in the Lake District.
If you love hill-walking or watersports, this is the place to be. Ullswater is one of England’s most beautiful stretches of water, surrounded by Lakeland Fells.
The site’s eco-credentials are exemplary, with a zero-waste shop selling cheese, pies, fruit and veg, milk and juice in returnable glass bottles, dry goods and potted plants – and no plastic packaging in sight.
