GREENER SOCKS

The Fibre Co. has launched its very first sock yarn, called Amble. It’s designed to be a more environmentally friendly washable sock yarn, as it uses alpaca and merino wool that has been treated using the Easy-wash process, which avoids the hazardous chemicals that are often used in producing superwash wool. It also incorporates recycled nylon.

Amble comes in 100g/325m skeins, and in a palette of 12 colours - you can also buy mini skeins to use for contrasting heels, toes and cuffs, or for colourwork. Accompanying the new yarn is a pattern developed by Kate Atherley for beginners to sock knitting. ‘One Sock’ is classic top-down sock pattern in 11 sizes from infant to adult. It comes with a bonus
