    When you think about wartime victory gardens and European allotment farming, there’s nothing new about community gardens — but they’re almost certainly the wave of the future, bringing urban neighbourhoods together with the added promise of food security.

    One such initiative is Warrnambool Community Garden (WCG), established in the southwest Victorian coastal city in 2006. Rented on a long-term lease from Warrnambool Council, the 2.5ha site comprises 52 plots worked by a current membership of 90.
