The big test: small premium SUVs

It’s probably the similarities that draw the eye with these two: both are 2.0-litre diesel SUVs from the more manageable, low-fat end of their sibling ranges, both all-wheel drive with five traditional seats plus a couple of pop-up individual chairs secreted under their boot floors. Both hit 62mph in under eight seconds, close enough to each other to make little appreciable difference, and both have a similar top speed.

And yes, both answer largely the same questions
