BROWNING FLIES WITH FORTEC TO F4 CROWN
The red flag flew in gathering rain to end British Formula 4’s 2020 finale early. And Luke Browning thought he had lost everything.
The Fortec Motorsports racer had led the standings since round three of nine when, for good measure, he’d claimed a rare weekend win hat-trick on his Oulton Park home track. Yet he entered the Brands Hatch season-closing round neck-and-neck with Carlin’s Zak O’Sullivan. Browning outscored his foe in the first two Brands contests; fifth was enough in the final race.
But on the opening lap he spun on oil, leaving him adrift.And while O’Sullivan hit the same hazard he wasn’t nearly as delayed. He quickly led, and when the race was stopped at half distance Browning had only recovered to 10th. Not enough, both thought. O’Sullivan was celebrating in the pits.
