Kawasaki Heavy Industries has been manufacturing equipment to destroy the opposition since the late 1800s, from submarines, to warships and aircraft, but it wasn’t until the early 1960s that KHI got serious and produced its first complete motorcycle, the B8.
It was straight into the winner’s circle, taking first through to sixth in the 125cc class at the Aonogahara Motocross in Japan in 1963 and Kawasaki has continued to build equipment that is at the forefront of the industry.
Right now the KX450 is dominating American supercross courtesy of Adam Cianciarulo and Eli Tomac, with Tomac being the reigning AMA Supercross Champion while AC claimed second in the AMA Pro Motocross championship. It’s nothing new for Kawasaki, thanks to riders such as Ryan Villopoto, Chad Reed and, going back a bit, Ricky Carmichael and Jeff Emig.
