THE WAYNE EFFECT

I met the Hall family towards the tail end of my time running the Motorcycle Road Race Development Association (MRRDA). A really lovely family, always willing to help others. Sons Travis and Joshua were racing Metrakit 80s, supported by dad Wayne and mum Venessa.

After I left the MRRDA, we stayed in touch and in 2017 I read in horror that Wayne had been involved in an accident where a tree branch pierced the windscreen of his van and nearly took his ear off. He suffered dreadful complications after pieces of tree were left embedded inches into head and, just as he was starting to come good, he was diagnosed with bowel cancer. We thought if anyone could beat it, Wayne could.

All the time, the boys kept up their racing, Travis travelled to Asia to compete in the 150cc Underbone class and scored some great results. The news arrived that
