Everybody Wants One

around the guitar world came on October 6, 2020, when Wolfgang Van Halen heartbreakingly announced on Twitter, “I can’t believe I’m having to write this, but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning…” For many, it’s hard to imagine a musical landscape without the likes of legendary musician and pioneering guitarist Eddie Van Halen. There are not enough words on this page to encapsulate how Van Halen categorically pushed the limits of electric guitar-based rock with of late-Seventies music and the glut of lackluster instruments that inspired Van Halen to create this perfect beast, propelling him to emerge as the G.O.A.T., but no other guitar clearly evokes the player more than “Frankenstein.” It is inherently unmistakable and original, like the man himself.
