WE were living with Christmas this year long before Advent actually began. With choir rehearsals taking place at home because ofsome time in October, then a school Christmas-card design competition took place in early November. Even so, with the ritual of stirring the Christmas cake last week, it felt as if the countdown to Christmas was properly under way. By the time this appears in print, we will, hopefully, have erected a tree and made the lights work.
