Danny Willett’s career has been a rollercoaster. For every glorious high, there has been a painful low. A sensational Masters victory, a Ryder Cup appearance and six other European Tour wins have been offset by injuries and losses of form. The Englishman knows how it feels to slip on a Green Jacket, but just over two years later he’d slipped to 462 in the world. He’s now back up to 57, but again battling a dip in form.
“Scores-wise and results-wise, things haven’t been great,” Willett tells GM on the eve of his title defence at the BMW PGA Championship. “It’s been a bit disappointing from where the game felt like it was before lockdown, and we put in some good work during lockdown, but it’s just not quite seemed to spark the same.
