Brad Norman: I was born into a sporting family, my Dad had a passion for soccer, so I grew up watching the [English] Premier League. And then he obviously got involved in soccer later on when he was the owner of Maccabi FC. He was also my coach at Old Eds [Old Edwardians Football Club in Johannesburg], so he has always been involved in my soccer. I started there around the age of five, and we actually had a really good team. We ended up going to the Gothia Cup [in Sweden] and winning that Newcastle [KwaZulu-Natal] tournament that they used to have, I’m not sure if they do still. At the age of 12 I moved to Berea Albion [in Pretoria] with Steve Haupt, which is where a lot changed for me. Before that I was an outfield player, but I started specialising as a goalkeeper when I moved to Berea. I had been an attacking midfielder, but in the bigger games I would move into goals, especially for penalty shoot-outs and that kind of thing, because I was quite good at it as
