RIP Baron Wolman

BARON Wolman, a highly influential US photographer who worked as the first, has died aged 83. Wolman met Jann Wenner, the founder of , after moving to San Francisco, and he worked for the magazine from 1967 to 1970. During this period, he took many iconic images of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Who, The Grateful Dead and many other big names. ‘Baron was perfect,’ Wenner explained. ‘I didn’t want a photographer who was just going to go to shows and take photographs from their seats.
