Few people, even in KZN, have heard of Mtunzini. But we all should have. For itʼs here, in this one-Spar, no-Woolies little coastal haven, that Africa links to the world – via the Seacom internet cable which pops up from the seabed just here.
The leafy village is bordered by the Mlalazi River and fronted by the Umlalazi Nature Reserve. Thereʼs a beach, indigenous dune and raffia forest and a large tract of swampy grassland. All of which means beautiful and varied birding habitat. Which is why
