The Ricardo Tormo Circuit provided Suzuki with an unsettling start to its MotoGP comeback when it made a wildcard outing in the 2014 Valencia Grand Prix with its GSX-RR. Test rider Randy de Puniet managed just 12 laps before his engine gave up the ghost.

Six years later at the venue and amid MotoGP’s maddest season, Joan Mir ended a 20-year wait for Suzuki when he won the championship following a steady ride to seventh from 12th on the grid.
