A portrait’s popularity often corresponds with the fortunes of its subject. For example, one of my portraits of the Spice Girls was an asset to my portfolio in the 1990s, but ten years later my agent told me I should take it out, because people didn’t respond well to it any more. Now, the situation has come full circle and recently a very trendy magazine published all my Spice Girls pictures because it’s acceptable to like them again.
