What else is new?

THERE ARE A couple of aesthetic shifts across the new macOS. One is the standardization of the icons in the sidebar of Finder windows and default apps. Catalina’s media apps had a neat set of their own, with white symbols over rounded rectangles with gradient fills. They’ve all now been rationalized into a wireframe design, and the first few icons in each sidebar take on an “accent color.”

This is blue for the Finder, while Music is red, Books orange, Podcasts purple, Photos, er, blue again, the App Store… also blue, and TV a nervous turquoise. News didn’t get the memo, and has white–on–gradient squircles. The colored icons
