JINGLE JANGLE a christmas journey
Writer/director David E. Talbert has had this particular Christmas story on his mind for the past couple of decades. With a background in theatre, he originally considered the story for the stage. Revisiting it every so often, he just couldn’t crack it. “And my wife said, ‘What about doing it as a movie?’” he tells Total Film. “And that was three years ago, and I started writing it as a feature film, and it just kind of took off.”
Set in the magical world of Cobbleton – a fictional European village with a steampunk-cute aesthetic – Jingle Jangle is the story of a master inventor, Jeronicus Jangle (Forest Whitaker), who loses his mojo after being betrayed by his formely trusted apprentice (Keegan-Michael Key). It’s down to Jeronicus’ granddaughter (newcomer Madalen Mills) – who’s inherited the old man’s magical abilities and knack for invention – to save the day and help reignite that spirit of Christmas.
