I was fishing a long narrow gutter in a place I’ve fished a hundred times before. The water was relatively clean with the occasional puff of mud created by the large number of passing stingrays. This narrow gutter drained a large mudflat scattered with broken weed clumps and the furrows of outboard motors that failed to judge the depth or the tide. The Gold Coast has a wide range of aquatic environments, and when you consider the number of people on the waterways it is amazing that it manages to still be a quite good fishery.
