The year Captain Oldfield joined (1892) was the year in which the Society’s journal, The London Philatelist, was first published. As the First World War commenced in 1914, he became Honorary Secretary (jointly with L.L.R. Hausberg until 1917), having served as Honorary Assistant Secretary from 1898.
