Alnwick
A THICK, soft yarn is used to create this super-cosy winter sweater. British BareFaced Chunky is a blend of Bluefaced Leicester wool and baby alpaca, and it comes in three undyed shades - cream, silver and charcoal. Jo Storie’s design has a boxy shape and wide, cropped sleeves. It is decorated with a lace pattern of large leaves and stems. The roll collar in our photographs is worked in brioche stitch; instructions are also given for a fisherman’s rib alternative.

Brk1 - Brioche knit 1: Knit together the next stitch along with the yarnover that is covering it. This is sometimes called a ‘bark’.
Brp1 - Brioche purl 1: Purl together the next stitch along with the yarnover that is covering it. This is sometimes called a ‘burp’.
sl1yo: Slip the next stitch pwise and at the same time work a yarnover. On Knit rows bring the yarn to the front before making the first sl1yo and take the yarn to the back between sts.
K1b: Knit into the stitch below and slip it and the stitch above it as one.
P1b: Purl into the stitch below and slip it and the stitch above it as one.
