MATERIALS

• Cotton fabric: 55x45cm (front)
• Backing fabric: 40x30cm
• Lining fabric: 40x60cm
• DMC stranded cotton: see Notes
• Pearl cotton No.8, black: see Notes
• Transfer pen or pencil
• Yarn: pink and orange (for tassel)
• Matching sewing thread
• Basic embroidery kit

STITCHES USED

Brick Stitch, Couching Stitch, French Knot, Satin Stitch, Seed Stitch, Straight Stitch

Transfer the design from the template to the centre of the cotton fabric using your preferred method. All the embroidery is worked in six strands of stranded cotton. Start at the top of the stocking and work one row at a time, continuing downwards. The motifs and rows are all outlined with black pearl cotton using Couching Stitch. You can work: Use light pink and dark pink to work the semicircles in horizontal Satin Stitch. Then, use bright green to fill the background with Satin Stitch.
