AT LAST. After months of sacrifice and tough lock-down restrictions, it’s finally starting to feel as though things are getting back to normal.

And with summer on its way, many South Africans reckon it’s safe to let their guard down – hands aren’t being washed as often, masks are sometimes forgotten, and parties, long-overdue catch-ups with friends and leisurely family braais are back on the cards.

But it could be just a few months before all this comes back to bite us, experts warn. As it’s happening across Europe and the US: the dreaded second wave of Covid-19.
