From car park, cross bridge in Gunnerside and walk E for 220m. Take surfaced bridleway on L and at first bend keep ahead on rough track, soon turning to grass. Pass small barn on R and join walled path climbing to plateau of rough pasture. Turn R through gate and keep ahead for 1km to meet tarmac track.

2 Walk ahead for 700m to houses at Blades and go N on good
