Audi TT MkI 1998
The ‘Golf in a party dress’ put Audi on the style map. Launched in 1998, it instantly became the new millennium’s must-have accessory: an ice cool, perfectly formed, about town coupe with an achingly contemporary interior teeming with precise switchgear and tasteful metal highlights. Thing is, whether Audi threw a turbo at it, or a big 3.2-litre V6, a twin-clutch gearbox or quattro all-wheel drive, it was never much cop to drive. The TT was a car to be seen in. A car to hit the scene in. So everyone did. And what’s cool about following the herd?
