When Adolf Hitler and the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (NSDAP — Nazi Party) succeeded in the takeover of the Weimar Republic in 1933, they did so by promoting a defined set of goals. A main part of their creed pertained to an ideal race and ethnicity that would be the only one acceptable in Germany’s new “Aryan” community.
World War One had devastated Germany’s population. The nation suffered more than seven million casualties during the long and bloody conflict. In addition, a rapidly declining birth rate (falling by 43% from 1920-1932), the economic catastrophes of the Great Depression, and a consistently high abortion rate (Fount of Life registered association).
