“I always knew that I would like to go into coaching but you never know how things are going to pan out. Fortunately, I was given the opportunity by Wasps and Dai Young (in 2013) and I’ll always be grateful for that.

“It helped me that I’d only been there as a player for one year – it might have been different (going from player to coach) had I done three or four years as a player.

“You have to learn a new skill-set – how you teach, how you coach, how you get your point across – and get comfortable with that. I worked with some brilliant players there. Andy Goode was great to deal with, then there were youngsters like Joe Launchbury, Sam Jones, Elliot Daly, Christian Wade… Brilliant people.”
