Does memorability equate to greatness?

We often talk about how memorable or otherwise a golf course is, with the unstated inference that memorability must be related to quality.

After a recent road trip, I’ve come to question that assumption a little. The trip involved a highly rated heathland course one day, and a less-heralded parkland resort course the next.
