Following the zigzag

We seldom, if ever, go after snipe — that twisting, zigzagging feathered darter of the marshes — for this form of shooting on our kind of marshes would disturb the duck, or at least show them where we are. Therefore what snipe we do shoot, and we get quite a fair number in the course of a season, are either shot at flight or when they rise as we are actually looking for duck.
