The warming spice is native to Indonesia, where the woody, dried pods tucked away in our pantries begin their trees. Clove’s oh-so recognisable aroma is thanks to a powerful plant chemical called eugenol. It makes up just shy of 90% of the essential oils extracted from cloves and has some remarkable health and wellbeing benefits.
