Hold that wheel

WE’VE ALL BEEN THERE, MANY times, and there is no doubt we’ll be there again sometime soon. Hanging onto a wheel or the fading tail end of a group is all part and parcel of cycling. It’s a sharp kicking from the cruel side, yet it’s also character defining.

It would be all to easy and naïve to assume the great champions within cycling do not go through these same survival experiences on a bike, often on a daily basis.

Suffering and the ability to make the most of your mental, physical and tactical resources and skills are vital ingredients in mastering the self-inflicted art of hanging on. Knowing how and when to most effectively use these skills, and battling physical burns and mental turmoil is what separates us as cyclists.
